  • What admissions criteria does Magdalen College use?
    • There is no formula for gaining admission to the College. The two most important parts of a prospective student's application are the Letter of Application and an overnight campus visit, including an interview with an Admissions representative. The primary criterion for enrollment is the applicant‘s demonstrated willingness to participate wholeheartedly in the Program of Studies.

  • What SAT and ACT codes do I use to send my scores to Magdalen College?
    • Use SAT code number 3562 or ACT code number 2511 when requesting that the scores be sent to the College.

  • Is Magdalen College accredited?
    • Magdalen College is accredited by the American Academy for Liberal Education located at 1050 17th St. NW, Suite 400, Washington, D.C. 20036. The Academy‘s telephone number is (202) 452-8611.

  • What profession or career does a Magdalen College degree allow me to pursue?
    • A student who earns a degree from Magdalen College is prepared to adapt to the pressures and challenges of a changing workplace.   • What careers have Magdalen College alumni pursued?
    • In a recent survey of Magdalen College alumni, graduates and former students indicated that they are pursuing over 40 different professions, including teaching, computer technology, nursing, law, medicine, marketing and sales, hotel and restaurant management, architecture, construction, law enforcement, journalism, financial consulting, and general business management. The most common profession among our alumni is teaching, followed by computer technology and business management.


      Moreover, since Magdalen College is a Catholic college that cultivates an integration of faith and life and promotes the universal vocation to holiness, 24% of our alumni are "stay at home" wives and mothers, and approximately 10% have entered the priesthood or religious life.

  • How can I get in contact with graduate or current student who lives in my area?
    • You may call the Admissions Office to obtain the name and phone number of an alumnus or current student who lives in your area.

  • Can a student enroll in the Program of Studies in the spring semester?
    • No. Each of the tutorials in the Program of Studies are year–long courses, and therefore, students must enroll in September, the start of the academic year.

  • Can a student transfer into Magdalen College as a sophomore, junior, or senior?
    • Magdalen College requires an applicant to a degree program to enter the Program of Studies as a freshman student.


      Some prospective students may have completed one, two, or even three years of undergraduate work elsewhere. Despite good academic records at other colleges or universities, transfer students relinquish an advanced standing in order to enter the Program of Studies at its ordained beginning—the freshman year. Because some exceptions are allowed, all interested persons should apply.

  • Can students live off-campus?
    • Enrolled students are required to reside on the campus of Magdalen College. Exceptions to the residency requirement are made by the President only.
